Engaging Your Online Audience – November 20 & 21, 2017

ACWB invites artists, arts based businesses, and community arts organizations on November 20 & 21, from 6:30 pm – 9 pm, at The Redpoll Centre in Shell Place, as we dive into the world of online marketing for artists!

Engaging Your Online Audience is a pair of workshops that go over two key areas of online marketing – Crowdfunding and Social Media, facilitated by Nancy Kenny. Nancy is an actor, writer, producer, arts marketing and social media professional. For a dozen years she has been working in marketing, promotions, and event planning with a focus on social media and theatre arts organizations.

Crowdfunding – November 20

In this introduction to crowdfunding, you will gain a better understanding of what it is, what funding portals work best for your needs, the pros and cons, how to set yourself apart, and how to develop your web presence and harness social media for a successful campaign.

Social Media – November 21

Whether you run your own creative business or simply enjoying sharing your creative endeavours online, it can be difficult to work out the best way to present what you have to say online. This workshop is designed to give you practical tools and ideas for using your website, newsletters and social media platforms to grow your online presence.

Tickets are available through Eventbrite and at the door for both ACWB Members and Non Members.

ACWB member – $20 per session or $35 for both

Non-member – $25 per session or $45 for both

Presented as part of the 2017 Business of the Arts series, which focuses on helping artists and arts organizations in various stages of their development reach their next step! Save the date for this exciting full day Business of the Arts conference. Featuring a variety of local and visiting artists, this summit aims to build the capacity of our local artists to compete and thrive in their artistry. The summit will offer a variety of sessions that will range from introductory classes to more in-depth lectures from experts in their chosen field.

Inside The Artists Studio – July 22, 2015



Who: Arts Council Wood Buffalo in partnership with the Artists In Residency Program
What: You’re invited to step behind the scenes into a working, professional, artist studio! Come meet the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo’s artists in residence, four of the best emerging artists in Canada. See their art in progress, learn about their styles, techniques and what excites them. Spend the evening indulging in your favourite passion and leave feeling inspired! Each artists will lead a 30 minute activity related to their individual artistic practice; all attendees will get a chance to participate in each of the activities and leave with their own art to take home.

Kelly Hill is President of Hill Strategies Research, a Canadian company that specializes in applying social science research methods to the arts sector. The author of nearly 300 reports and presentations on the arts and culture in Canada, Kelly has examined the situation of artists, arts funding and finances, cultural participation and spending, cultural donors and volunteers, arts education, creative communities, and the benefits of culture. Hill Strategies’ ongoing projects, created by Kelly Hill upon founding the company in 2002, include the Statistical Insights on the Arts series and the Arts Research Monitor. In addition, Hill Strategies Research also conducts commissioned research projects, such as a recent study of local cultural investments.
